We can arrange a consultation if this feels suitable to think about how we may be able to work together. I understand that making the first contact can be difficult and there is no obligation to continue beyond the consultation.
With a specialism in Child Psychotherapy
Therapeutic support for parents and carers
Help with emotional, behavioural and mental health problems
I am qualified to work from 0-25+ (parents and carers)
Psychotherapy provides a space for inner thoughts and feelings to be explored; both at a conscious and unconscious level. Our unconscious mind is where we keep feelings and memories that may be too painful to be addressed consciously. In Psychotherapy, we attempt to work with these thoughts and feelings in a number of ways; through verbal and non-verbal communication; playing, drawing; and even sitting in silence. All of these ways of being help inform what might be being communicated at a much deeper level. Over time, this understanding can be internalised, helping the individual have a better sense of how they feel and why they may feel this way.
I am a fully qualified Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and a member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP)
The ACP is registered with the Professional Standards Authority. The Department of Health recognises the ACP as the regulatory body for the profession.
Training to become a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist takes a minimum of 6 years, and includes a 4-year full-time clinical placement. The training is equivalent to a Clinical Doctorate.
I have over 18 years of experience working with children and families in a variety of settings from schools, pupil referral units and supporting families in their homes with their children.
I have also worked within an NHS Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for over 5 years.
